Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration (BHIA)
(Total Credits: 96)
This BScHIA Course is the first of its
kind in India. The six-semester program is unique as it trains candidates for
careers in various Medical Documentation settings. Graduates will be able to
take up jobs in diverse Health Care Organizations, Medical Transcription and
Health Insurance Firms. They will be able to Independently manage out patient
services and units providing documentation services.
Eligibility:
-
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Arts, Science or Commerce
subjects may apply for admission.

Those with the following additional qualifications after successful completion
of 10+2 or equivalent with Arts, Science or Commerce subjects are also eligible
to apply for admission.

Candidates who have successfully completed Ministry of Health Recognized
Condensed Course in Medical Record Technology with two years in-service training
in a hospital.

A MAHE/CMAI recognized
diploma/certificate in allied health science course other than Medical Record
Technology with at least three years experience in a Health Information
Organization..

Candidates who have successfully completed SSLC (11 years of schooling) or Matriculation (11 years of schooling) or
equivalent with Arts, Science or Commerce subjects and have a MAHE/CMAI
recognized diploma in an Allied Health Science subject or Information Technology
Course of not less than one years duration and three years work experience in a
related field are also eligible to apply.
However if selected for admission the candidates
meeting any of the above criteria must pass a prerequisite course in *
Fundamentals of Medical Record Science = 3 credits along with other first
semester courses to be eligible to progress to the next semester.

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent
with Arts, Science or Commerce subjects and have a MAHE/CMAI recognized diploma or certificate in
Medical Record Technology after passing a two year course of study or have a
current CMAI diploma in Medical Record Technology or equivalent are
eligible for direct admission to the second semester of the BScHIA course.
However they must complete the following
additional courses as indicated below for which an additional fees will have to be
paid along with the second semester fees at the time of submission of
application for admission:

Communication Skills in English = 4 credits.

Computer Skills = 4 Credits.
All candidates seeking admission must have
completed 17 years of age as on the date of admission.
