The design and implementation of BSc-IT offers new challenges when compared to the traditional computing environment. The recent emergence of the global business, new technologies for data processing and data communication / networking environment, equip specialized science graduates focus on the development of the professional careers in the area of Information Technology. The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology [BSc-IT] program has been developed to provide the students with adequate knowledge both theoretical and practical, that is necessary to enable them to participate in the design of complex problem in IT industry. SMU IT programs intend to equip graduates with the knowledge and skill required to contribute to this vital area of Information Technology.

Objectives:

Primary objectives of this programme:

Knowledge of computer and programming logic environment in IT.
Develop strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Skills to work with advanced IT applications in different business sectors.
Equipping students with the technical knowledge required for an IT professional to handle multi-tasking and multi-programming situations and to assess and develop computer based solutions.

Eligibility:	10+2 or equivalent / 3 year diploma from state board of technical education
Duration:	3 Years (6 Semesters)
Fees:	Program Fees: Rs. 8,500.00 per Semester Exam Fees: Rs. 700.00 per Semester Total: Rs. 9,200.00 per Semester
Lateral Entry:	Provision for Lateral Entry to Second semester (First level): Eligibility : 1.Successful completion of 10+2 and Six months computer course; 2. A 3 year Diploma in CS or IT from State board of technical education; 3. A successful completion of 3 years diploma in non IT field from state board of technical education and six month computer course.
L. E. Fee:	Candidates applying for lateral entry will pay Lateral entry fee Rs. 3700.00 and will have to appear in the examination of immediate previous semester.
